Description: We compare the axisymmetric swirling flow simulation with the time averaged unsteady threedimensional numerical solution. It is concluded that when a strong unsteady three-dimensional precessing vortex rope is developed, the 2D axisymmetric results are in reasonable agreement with the 3D time averaged ones.
