Abstract:
Reinforcement for composites with polymeric matrix are usually prepared under the form of prepregs, which represent the most effective way to maintain fiber alignment during final processing. As an alternative to the conventional production of prepregs, for example the twin-tex, this work describes the dry coating process, developed to deposit polymer powders on continuous fibers for the production of thermoplastic matrix composites, the improvements that were made on the machine to increase the polymer deposition, and controlling parameters that influence the process.
