Title: Cascadexpert: Software Development For Cascade Hydrodynamics

Description: ABSTRACT The paper presents the current status of the CASCADExpert software developed by the authors for hydrofoil cascade analysis, design and optimization. We first briefly review the problem formulation for the inviscid, incompressible and irrotational flow in 2D linear cascades, and the Finite Element Method for solving the streamfunction boundary-value problem. The boundary conditions for the viscous-inviscid coupling are developed to include the boundary layer displacement thickness. Second, we present the shape parametric representation using a set of special orthonormal function, for which we give the explicit analytical expressions. The actual hydrofoil shape used in computations is obtained via a leastsquares representation outlined in the paper. Third, we present the procedure for averaging the velocity field in order to extract the information for a Q3D turbomachinery computation. The paper is concluded with a review of the present capabilities of our CASCADExpert code.
