Abstract:
The theme presents the some characteristics and properties of a new category of nano-magnetizable composite materials, obtained using nano-magnetic fluids and resins. The samples is prepared with different mixtures of resins, carrier liquids (nano-magnetic fluids), and concentration of magnetic nano-particles.
We used nano-magnetic fluids with cyclo-hexane, ethyl ether, pentanol and methyl-ethyl-ketone, as carrier liquids. In the cyclo-hexane carrier liquid, the Fe3O4 nano-particles are monolayer sterically stabilised (with oleic acid). Methyl-ethyl ketone (MEK), ethyl ether (EE) and pentanol (Pent) were selected as resin compatible polar carriers. Especially MEK and EE are highly volatile and strongly polar liquids.
