Description: Abstract: After a brief description of the dry coating process equipement developed for the production of towpregs made with polypropylene (ICO Polymers – ICORENE 9184B P) matrix and glass fibre (Owens Corning – 357 – AA), the influence of processing parameters upon the degree of polymer deposition and reliability of production of the towpreg is described here. Besides a statistical treatement of different processed towpregs and microscopical analysis of adhesion, the discussions will be centred upon quality of polymer deposited and its relation to mechanical properties.
